A cleaned home does not stay cleaned by itself, and the gap between visits is where most of the difference is made. The good news is that it takes far less effort than people expect — it is about a few habits, not about cleaning constantly.
The biggest single one is dealing with surfaces before you leave a room rather than after. Wiping a counter while the pan is still soaking, putting things back where they belong on the way past, and clearing the sink at night take seconds each and prevent the slow accumulation that turns into an afternoon's work.
The second is keeping dirt out at the door. Most of what ends up ground into floors walked in on shoes. A mat that is actually big enough, and taking shoes off indoors, cuts the amount of grit in a home dramatically — and grit is what wears floors down, so this is a maintenance point as much as a cleaning one.
The third is moisture. Wiping down the shower or running the fan after it, and not leaving damp towels in a heap, does more to prevent bathroom problems than any product does. Most bathroom cleaning trouble is really ventilation trouble that has been left long enough to become visible.
None of this replaces a proper clean. What it does is make each one land better and last longer, so a regular visit stays a maintenance job instead of gradually turning into a rescue.
